DEATH IN UNISON Steam Reviews

I just wanted to put this out into the world. I don't know if I am delusional or if something is going on, but is DEATH IN UNISON on Steam getting review botted for positive reviews?

DEATH IN UNISON is a game on steam that I think makes a lot of interesting fun choices. It is one of these trendy low poly horror multiplayer games. I think that style gained traction in the last 3-4 years, and I am generally a fan of them. I have gotten a solid 200 or so hours out of Lethal Company and I thought that game did a good job.

Anyways, back to DEATH IN UNISON. Me and a friend were looking for games a month or so back and stumbled upon it and honestly it is okay. I am not trying to make a full game review here, so I am gonna sum up my thoughts on it in a few sentences. It has lots of interesting ideas and a tense gameplay loop, but the tutorials and storytelling are done in massive amounts of reading. I think all the reading hurts engagement, especially in a coop game where both players are expected to read at the same time.

I thought this was an obvious take away from the game, but when I looked at the Steam reviews, 99% of the reviews were positive and the ones that weren't were talking about how they couldn't boot the game. Not a single one talked about the tutorials.

So like, what is going on? Not to hate on DEATH IN UNISON but I would be shocked if 99% of the people who played it would put a positive review. I have seen games significantly better than DEATH IN UNISON get worse reviews.

I read a steam post talking about people being paid to leave reviews on games, so I wonder if this is the same case? I don't have any proof of this, but I am highly suspicious. Not sure if I will ever trust Steam reviews again...
