First Post

Hello, I am utjg and this is my first blog post!

I decided to make this on a whim since I thought it would be a good way for me to create a voice for myself online. I have tried to make public content before to varying degrees, and I had the idea today that I could try to make a blog. I tried Instagram, Twitter, and a bunch of other things but I never could find myself making much of posting. If I am being honest, I expect myself to abandon this with less than 10 posts to my name, but maybe this will be the one? Who knows.

Part of the reason I am doing this is because I want to get involved in online communities but I frequently find myself unable to fit in to them. They are either too edgy or not edgy enough, full of topics I have no interest in, or just have a general culture that just doesn't "mush" with me. I think I am just a bit different and have to take a different approach, where I just make my own space and see if anyone else is interested in the things I care about.

I am an aspiring artist and hope to eventually make media of my own that I can share online proudly, where it is something that really shows my vision. I wouldn't call myself extremely skilled, and not many people within art spaces will call me that either haha. I do try, but I think it is obvious that I don't do this for a living when I share my work. Y'know, I have a small memory that happened a year ago where someone I was talking to at my work asked me why I bothered pursuing engineering when I was "obviously" so skilled at art. If I am being honest with myself, he was probably just being nice.

The kind of stuff I am trying to make, and have made before to varying degrees are comics and videogames. I do sorta want to make cartoons too, but that is a pipe dream that I am not planning on pursuing. In terms of animation, videogames are just gonna have to fill that void for now. I have made comics/videogames, but I haven't shared them publicly, just privately among close friends. I don't think most of them played the games, but I think the comics were read (mostly because they were short). If I am being honest the fact that my friends wouldn't play the games made me a little sad, as I always make sure to make time to engage with the media they make, but that's life.

I am not going to post any of my work with this blog post just because I didn't prepare anything for this post. I will hopefully prepare content for the upcoming posts, but I don't think I will make posts just when I have content. I will just make posts when I have something to say, something to say related to my visions I guess.

That's all for now. I will make at least one post to this thing haha. Hopefully. If I don't it is either because I have died or found a better place to start a blog.
